Where is Ulifushi?

On the southern coast of Uligan, an inhabited island in Haa Alif Atoll in the far north of the Maldives, about 328 km north of Malé. The hotel site is separate from the village.

How is it different from a resort?

Ulifushi is a hotel on a local island, designed around Maldivian heritage. Architecture, food, crafts and well-being draw on living tradition, and people from Uligan are part of the experience.

What kinds of accommodation will there be?

Four: Athirige beach villas, Uthuru Dheyvi city-hotel rooms, honeymoon villas and three Koilu heritage suites for families and groups of up to eight. See Stay.

Is it suitable for families and couples?

Yes. The Koilu suites are designed for families and groups, and the honeymoon villas for couples. A children's day-care centre is also planned.

What is Dhivehi beys?

The traditional Maldivian system of healing, based on generations of knowledge of plants, natural remedies and balance in the body.

What food will be served?

Traditional Maldivian cooking with fresh, seasonal and local ingredients where possible, alongside other restaurants as the hotel grows. Dietary needs can be catered for with notice.

When is the best time to visit?

The Maldives is a year-round destination. December to March is the peak season; May to July brings the south-west monsoon.
